Megan Anderson, CD(DONA) CLEC CPES
I opened Fruit of Life Birth & Wellness Services in January 2012 after receiving my certification as a Placenta Encapsulation Specialist from PBi - the oldest, largest and most recognized placenta encapsulation organization in the world. I am trained in proper preparation methods according to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I follow OSHA, EPA and FDA safety protocols and have complete food safety and handling training. I am equipped to safely, properly and legally prepare the placenta for you in a professional manner you can trust.
I received my birth doula training and certification through DONA International, one of the largest doula certification organizations in the world. I am trained to provide physical, emotional and informational support to clients and their partners. In March of 2017, I obtained certification as a lactation educator and counselor through the University of California San Diego. As a lactation educator and counselor I can help mothers initiate breastfeeding, assist with latch and positioning, give sound advice on treating sore nipples, engorgement, milk supply and other common conditions.
I am also interested in natural healing, nutrition and alternative medicine and have been accumulating knowledge about various aspects relating to these topics over the past two decades. My passion for serving women during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period was sparked by own experiences giving birth and being a mother. I have four children of my own and I also gave birth to a 5th child as a surrogate. My diverse experiences giving birth helped me realize, not only the physical significance of a woman's experience giving birth, but also the mental and emotional significance and how undervalued that aspect is in our culture.
I am also pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and I hope to eventually obtain my Masters Degree in Nurse Midwifery. I am a passionate advocate of women's rights during childbirth and an avid campaigner for improving access to and standards of perinatal care in the United States and Worldwide. In addition to achieving a spot on the 2018 All-California Academic Team, First Team and being named a Silver Scholar with the 2018 Coca-Cola All-State Academic Team, my research on the United State's Maternity Care System was selected for presentation at the Honors Transfer Council of California Spring Conference at the University of California, Irvine in 2018.
I provide birth doula services, lactation education & counseling, placenta encapsulation, doTERRA Essential Oils and herbal wellness products to San Diego, Riverside, Orange, San Bernardino, and Southern Los Angeles counties in Southern California!
